The Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend moved upward across most major markets during Q2 2026. Lower inventories, firm producer pricing, higher raw-material and production costs, steady textile demand, and improving downstream activity supported the market.

China, India, Indonesia, the USA, Bangladesh, and Egypt recorded noticeable increases, while Austria’s Modal fibre market remained mostly stable with a mild positive movement. The quarter showed that Viscose Staple Fibre Prices were influenced not only by fibre demand but also by dissolving wood pulp costs, freight, import expenses, regional supply conditions, and textile manufacturing activity.

Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend in Q2 2026

The second quarter of 2026 was generally firm for the global viscose staple fibre market. At the beginning of the quarter, buyers were already dealing with relatively low inventories in several producing and consuming regions. Producers therefore had better pricing control, particularly where output was already committed or pre-sold.

Raw-material costs were another important factor. Viscose staple fibre production depends heavily on dissolving wood pulp and other processing inputs. When these costs increase, producers usually try to protect their margins through higher fibre offers. This created additional support for the market during Q2.

Demand from the textile industry also improved in several regions. Viscose fibre is widely used in yarn, woven fabrics, non-woven applications, home textiles, and apparel. As textile mills increased procurement, fibre suppliers were able to maintain firmer offers.

However, the market was not uniformly strong throughout the quarter. By June, some buyers became more cautious because of seasonal demand patterns. Even with slower buying in some markets, limited inventories, firm export offers, and higher production costs continued to prevent a major decline.

The Viscose Staple Fibre Price Chart therefore showed an overall upward movement during Q2 2026, although the size of the increase varied from one market to another.

China Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

China remained one of the key markets influencing global VSF prices during Q2 2026. Export prices for 1.2D × 38mm VSF on an FOB Shanghai basis increased by around 9% during the quarter.

The rise was supported by low producer inventories, firm pricing from manufacturers, strong export activity, and better downstream purchasing. When inventories are low, producers generally have less pressure to offer discounts, particularly when export enquiries remain healthy.

The market continued to move higher in June, with prices increasing by around 2% month on month. Producer inventories remained low and a significant portion of production was already pre-sold. These conditions helped support prices even though domestic rayon-yarn demand became softer as the textile sector moved into its traditional off-season.

This created an interesting balance in the Chinese market. Domestic consumption was not as strong as earlier in the quarter, but export demand and limited availability continued to support the market.

For international buyers, Chinese export pricing remained an important reference point for Viscose Staple Fibre Prices in other importing countries.

Indonesia Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

Indonesia also recorded a positive price movement during Q2 2026. VSF export prices for 1.3 Dtex × 38mm Bright Raw White on an FOB Jakarta basis increased by around 4%.

Regional demand remained firm, while stable feedstock availability and higher production expenses supported producer pricing. Indonesia has an integrated fibre production base, which provides the country with an important position in the Asian VSF supply chain.

In June, Indonesian VSF prices increased by approximately 3% month on month. Producers benefited from firm demand from regional markets and higher input costs. Currency movements also contributed to higher import-related expenses.

Production expansion remained an important market development. Plans to increase VSF production capacity to around 600,000 tonnes reflected expectations of continued regional demand growth. Additional production capacity could improve supply availability over time, but near-term pricing remained supported by production costs and regional buying activity.

The Indonesian market therefore remained firm during Q2, with the balance between production costs, regional demand, export activity, and future capacity shaping the Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend.

India Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

India recorded one of the stronger increases among the major VSF markets during Q2 2026. Domestic prices for 1.5D × 38mm Semi Dull fibre on an Ex-Mumbai basis increased by around 10%.

Several factors supported this increase. Producer pricing remained firm, input costs were higher, and demand for man-made fibres continued to improve. Indian textile manufacturers have increasingly used man-made fibres alongside traditional natural fibres, creating a broader demand base for VSF.

In June, Indian VSF prices increased by around 4% month on month. Firm domestic demand and higher international fibre costs provided support.

Trade conditions also remained an important consideration for textile producers. Uncertainty around textile trade policies created some caution among market participants, particularly for businesses connected to export markets. Despite this uncertainty, the domestic VSF market remained firm during the quarter.

The Indian market showed how domestic demand can interact with international pricing. Even when global trade conditions change, local procurement requirements, production costs, and textile activity can continue to influence fibre prices.

Austria Modal Fibre Price Trend

Austria's Modal fibre market behaved differently from the larger VSF markets. Prices increased only mildly, by around 0.4% during Q2 2026.

Demand across the broader European textile fibre market remained subdued, which limited the potential for a stronger increase. However, higher dissolving wood pulp costs provided cost support to Modal fibre prices.

In June, Modal fibre prices increased by approximately 1% month on month. Dissolving wood pulp prices remained an important factor, with average DWP sales prices increasing by 6.9% QoQ during Q2.

This demonstrates the importance of raw materials in the fibre market. Even when downstream demand is relatively soft, higher input costs can prevent fibre prices from falling significantly.

The Austrian market therefore remained broadly stable to mildly positive, with specialty fibre demand and raw-material costs balancing weaker overall textile demand.

Bangladesh Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

Bangladesh recorded an increase of around 4% in VSF import prices during Q2 2026. The market benefited from improving textile and apparel demand, active mill procurement, and firmer regional supplier quotations.

Bangladesh relies significantly on imported fibre, meaning international supplier prices have a direct effect on local landed costs. When Asian producers raise export offers, Bangladeshi buyers can face higher import prices even when domestic demand remains unchanged.

In June, Bangladesh VSF prices increased by around 3% month on month. Firm Chinese supplier offers were an important factor, while textile mills continued to purchase fibre for manufacturing requirements.

The country's textile sector also continued to focus on fibre diversification and sustainable material use. This can provide a broader demand base for viscose fibre over the longer term.

For buyers, freight, supplier offers, exchange-rate movements, and local textile demand remain important factors to monitor when assessing future Viscose Staple Fibre Prices

USA Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

The US market recorded an increase of around 11% during Q2 2026, making it one of the stronger increases among the markets covered.

Unlike producing regions, US buyers are heavily influenced by landed import costs. Freight, logistics, supplier prices, and international trade conditions all contribute to the final price paid by importers.

During June, US VSF prices increased by approximately 5% month on month. Higher Asian fibre prices and logistics expenses pushed import quotations higher.

Trade policy also remained relevant to the US market. Changes in tariffs and sourcing patterns affected the movement of apparel and textile materials, including Chinese-origin products. Buyers therefore had to consider not only the fibre price itself but also the additional costs associated with bringing material into the country.

This made the US market particularly sensitive to changes in Asian export prices. A rise in Chinese or other Asian VSF prices can quickly affect the landed cost for American buyers.

Egypt Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend

Egypt's VSF import prices from China increased by around 8% during Q2 2026. The increase was supported by firmer Chinese export offers, improving textile activity, and growing procurement requirements from the Egyptian textile industry.

In June, prices increased by approximately 2% month on month. Higher Chinese supplier offers and import costs supported the landed price of VSF in Egypt.

Egypt's textile manufacturing sector continued to attract investment and expand its production capabilities. As textile manufacturing grows, fibre consumption can also increase, creating additional demand for imported VSF.

The Egyptian market therefore remained connected closely to Chinese export pricing. Any significant movement in Chinese VSF offers can influence Egyptian import costs, particularly when alternative supply options are limited.

Key Factors Behind Viscose Staple Fibre Prices in Q2 2026

Several factors worked together to create the upward movement in the global market.

Low inventories were one of the most important factors. When stocks at producers and distributors remain low, buyers have less flexibility and suppliers can maintain firmer offers.

Higher production costs also supported prices. Energy, processing, labour, logistics, and raw-material expenses all influence the final cost of producing VSF.

Dissolving wood pulp prices were particularly important for fibre producers. Higher pulp costs can increase production expenses and encourage producers to adjust fibre prices accordingly.

Export demand provided additional support, especially in China and Indonesia. Strong international orders helped offset softer domestic demand in some markets.

Textile activity also played an important role. When mills increase production, they need more fibre, which can tighten availability and support prices.

Freight and import costs were especially important for markets such as the USA, Bangladesh, and Egypt. Importers must consider the complete landed cost rather than only the supplier's quoted fibre price.

Viscose Staple Fibre Price Chart and Price Index

The Viscose Staple Fibre Price Chart for Q2 2026 reflected a broadly positive market across the major regions. China, India, Indonesia, Bangladesh, the USA, and Egypt all recorded increases, although the percentage change differed according to local supply and demand conditions.

The Viscose Staple Fibre Price Index also reflected the broader firmness of the market. However, regional prices cannot always move at the same speed because each market has different freight costs, currency movements, production structures, import requirements, and downstream textile conditions.

For example, China and Indonesia are major production and export markets, while the USA, Bangladesh, and Egypt are more dependent on imported fibre. This creates different price transmission patterns.

Viscose Staple Fibre Price Forecast

Looking ahead from the Q2 2026 market conditions, the direction of VSF prices will depend on several factors rather than a single demand indicator.

Producer inventory levels will remain important. If inventories stay low and output remains disciplined, suppliers may continue to maintain firm pricing. On the other hand, a significant increase in production or weaker textile demand could reduce price pressure.

Dissolving wood pulp costs will also remain an important factor. Continued strength in pulp prices could provide cost-based support to VSF Price Forecast while any sustained decline in raw-material costs could reduce production-cost pressure.

Textile demand will be another key factor. Seasonal buying patterns may create periods of slower procurement, particularly after stronger purchasing periods. However, stable apparel and home-textile production could continue to provide a base level of demand.

China's export market will also remain important. Changes in Chinese production, inventories, export offers, and domestic rayon-yarn demand can influence pricing across Asia and other importing regions.

For India, Bangladesh, Egypt, and the USA, international fibre prices combined with freight and import costs will remain important in determining local market levels.

Overall, the forecast environment entering the next period remains dependent on the balance between supply availability, raw-material costs, textile demand, and international trade conditions. The Q2 2026 data indicates that the market entered the period with firm underlying cost and supply support, although seasonal demand could create short-term variations.

Regional View of the Q2 2026 Market

The Q2 2026 market showed clear differences between producing and importing regions. China recorded a strong increase of around 9%, while Indonesia rose by approximately 4%. India recorded around a 10% increase, reflecting firm domestic demand and higher input costs.

Import-dependent markets also experienced significant increases. The USA recorded around 11%, Egypt around 8%, and Bangladesh around 4%. These markets were affected by both international fibre prices and additional landed costs.

Austria's Modal fibre market was more stable, increasing by around 0.4%, as weak European textile demand limited the upward movement while higher dissolving wood pulp costs provided support.

These differences show why following only one country's fibre price is not enough for businesses involved in international textile sourcing. Regional supply, freight, exchange rates, raw-material costs, and local demand can all change the final price.

What Buyers Should Watch

Buyers and textile manufacturers following the VSF market should closely monitor producer inventories, dissolving wood pulp prices, export quotations, freight costs, textile mill utilisation, and regional procurement activity.

China's export offers are particularly relevant for many Asian and Middle Eastern markets. For India, domestic textile demand and producer pricing remain important. For Bangladesh and Egypt, import costs and supplier quotations can have a larger impact. In the USA, freight, tariffs, sourcing patterns, and Asian fibre prices can influence landed costs.

Seasonality should also be considered. A period of softer textile demand does not necessarily mean that VSF prices will immediately decline. If inventories remain low and production costs stay elevated, suppliers may continue to hold firm offers.

The Q2 2026 market demonstrated this clearly. Even as some buyers became more cautious in June, supply discipline, firm export offers, and higher input costs continued to provide support to the market.

Market Outlook

The Q2 2026 Viscose Staple Fibre Price Trend showed a generally firm global market with differences between individual regions. Low inventories, higher production expenses, raw-material costs, steady textile demand, and stronger regional procurement supported prices across most major markets.

The Viscose Staple Fibre Prices recorded increases in China, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, the USA, and Egypt, while Austria's Modal market remained broadly stable with a mild positive movement.

Going forward, the interaction between supply, production costs, dissolving wood pulp prices, downstream textile demand, freight, and international trade conditions will remain central to the market. Buyers tracking the Viscose Staple Fibre Price Chart and Viscose Staple Fibre Price Index can use these indicators alongside regional market developments to understand changes in pricing and procurement conditions.
